Ontario’s first high volume spay/neuter centre opens

homepage poster Ontarios first high volume spay/neuter centre opensThe GTA’s first high-volume spay and neuter clinic, created as a result of the partnership between Spaycentral and the OSPCA, is now open at the Ontario SPCA clinic in Newmarket. The centre is open to the public, shelters, and rescue groups. A second spay neuter clinic is also available in the Barrie area.

The goals of the clinics are to offer affordable spay and neuter operations to help encourage people to fix their cats and dogs. The spay and neuter costs for cats are $50. For dogs, the neutering fee is $60 and $80 for spaying. The clinics also offer vaccinations and microchipping.

This coincides with the OSPCA’s increased efforts to end pet overpopulation with their new “Fix Your Pet” marketing campaign. Posters of dogs and kittens with slogans such as “It’s called a litter because some people just throw them away” will be seen at city bush shelters, and provincial libraries.

  1. This is great news about the OSPCA spay/neuter clinic. Is it going to be possible to open another one? Possibly in the GTA? The Newmarket and Barrie offices sound as if they are extraordinarily busy, and that is great news. But it would be even better if everyone who needs to use the services, can get them, and quickly!
    Thanks

  2. I hav found that when I wanted to get my basset hound neutered it took at least 6 months to get an appointment! but alot cheaper than what the vets cost!
