Located behind the tennis courts, the Norwood dog park is Toronto’s first fenced in off leash area. This park is the local favourite for many neighbourhood dog owners and dog walkers. For years this was Toronto’s only fenced in legal off leash area and as such it has been quite a popular spot for many. The dog park has two entrances, both with double gates. The area includes a couple of benches. It is very unfortunate that the area can get quite mucky with a large puddle forming in the middle of the dog park. The city has attempted to remedy the situation by digging up the entire dog park (it used to be a typical park surface with patches of grass and some vegetation) and installing a sub layer of gravel and a top layer of sand to help with drainage, obviously the plan hasn’t worked very well.
